Since the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the teams at Energy Assets have been completely focused on supporting our customers and delivering on our commitments to the country’s energy infrastructure.
This has involved significant change to working practices and we are proud of the way that our people have responded.
Energy Assets has consistently followed the Government and NHS advice provided to ensure we do all we can to slow the spread of the virus. However, the new measures introduced by the Government on March 23rd 2020 mean we now need to reflect on how best to ensure the safety of our people, our customers, our supply chain partners and the wider community we serve.
As a result, we have implemented our COVID-19 business protocol plans and have suspended all non-essential field operations with effect from March 24th 2020, until advised otherwise. In addition, from 25th March 2020 we have taken the decision to close our offices, warehouses and sites, except for those activities required to support our critical or emergency field activities.
We have instructed our office-based staff to work from home and they have been equipped with the resources they need to do their jobs effectively, and importantly continue to support our customers. Furthermore from 1st April, 2020 and during the escalated period of lockdown the company has made the decision to furlough a number of non-essential employees or employees where workload has been reduced following the cessation of non-critical activities. These furloughed employees will typically undertake planned work and related activities which cannot now be undertaken as a result of the current measures which have been implemented by our Government.
What won’t change is our commitment to provide the emergency support needed to safeguard the energy supply to public services and infrastructure, including hospitals, and to protect our most vulnerable citizens. To ensure the safety of end user customers and our employees, all field based operatives have been issued with additional PPE and will apply the necessary risk assessments following appropriate Government, NHS and company guidelines.
We will continue to provide the following essential services during this time;
- Essential maintenance as well as continued support services to our metering and data assets.
- Gas and electricity data services to support our customer’s settlement activities.
- Essential works and the associated support services related to the gas and electricity networks owned and operated by us.
- Any essential utility connections required to support critical developments or infrastructure.
These will be challenging times for all us, but we want to reassure you that Energy Assets is a resilient company, with a robust business continuity plan and a fantastic team of people. We will continue to serve and safeguard our customers over the coming weeks, albeit in a different operating environment, and look forward to returning to ‘business as normal’ as soon as we possibly can.
