The Womens Utilities Network (WUN) will be unpicking ‘Lockdown Learnings’ during a special virtual event supported by Energy Assets.
As easedown replaces lockdown, the online session on August 26 - Lockdown Learnings, Legal issues & Legacy - will look at how the dust is settling in the utilities industry and what the ‘new reality’ will look like?
The WUN, which focuses on developing and encouraging women in the utilities sector, has put together an impressive line-up of speakers looking at the immediate and longer-term impact of COVID-19.
Jen Faichney, Head of HR at Energy Assets, will share examples of best practice in employee engagement during the pandemic. She will consider how the sector’s ability to be agile and adaptive has been stressed in areas such as policy, safety, decision-taking centralization, remote connectivity and mental health … shifting the balance between change and stability.
Alison Weatherhead, a Partner at Dentons UKME LLP, will tackle lockdown legal issues, discussing the ongoing challenges as businesses move beyond furlough, looking at employment law and quality issues in the "new dynamic".
Dr Linda Bell, Director & Consultant Occupational Health Physician at Business Medical, will discuss how Covid has impacted health and wellbeing, and what future changes could mean for personal lives and careers.
Said Jen Faichney: “This is a unique event designed to help explore, capture and integrate the lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic. As we transition to the next phase of ‘easedown’, it is critical to take stock of the past few months to understand the lockdown lessons.
“For example, a major factor influencing the response to crises, such as the pandemic, remains resilience. This is a key coping strategy to ensure organisations can handle adversity and rebuild for the future. So, we will take a walk back through lockdown to reflect on what has and hasn’t worked for employers and employees, sharing insights, learnings and challenges.”
Energy Assets is a sponsor of the WUN and was due to support an event in Scotland earlier this year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is now running virtually and is open to members and guests.
