Alan Crozier joined Energy Assets Utilities in May 2015 as a Multi Utility Mains Layer, spending his days out on-site installing gas, water and electricity mains and services. Through his hard work and effort, he progressed to Project Supervisor, before being promoted to the role of Project Manager in February 2017.
His current role involves overseeing projects from the design stage, highlighting any issues that may arise throughout the project, right through to completion. Some projects certainly can be more challenging than others, for example, at Dovecote Farm in Haddington, to connect gas from the mains to the site involved drilling 70 metres under a bridge to install the gas pipes.
As Project Manager, Alan also has to liaise with local authorities on a regular basis during the initial stages of any project, before allocating the project to one of his three Project Supervisors.
Alan is very much enjoying his new role, commenting:
“No two days are the same and all of the projects are both interesting and challenging, often needing on-the-spot decisions to be made. The staff are all very friendly at Energy Assets Utilities and I am very grateful to the company for providing the opportunities that have allowed me progress. The training has been excellent and I am currently undertaking a Project Management Course at Falkirk Technical College – the Chartered Management Institution (CMI) Level 5 in Project Management.”
Outside of work Alan enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and keeps fit playing golf and by regular visits to the gym.
