Sponsorship Deal Converted by Portobello RFC

One of Britain’s leading energy metering and utility network construction companies has renewed a sponsorship deal to support Portobello RFC in its quest to become the most successful community rugby club in Scotland.

Livingston-based Energy Assets is backing the Duddingston club as it continues to grow its playing and social membership, with the First XV aiming for a top 4 position in Scotland’s East Division 1.

Sponsorship is vital to the club and has enabled a coach to be engaged and training facilities to be improved for all the 100+ playing members, who range from 5 years up to the senior squad. The club also supports the Portobello High School teams for secondary school age competition.

Says Eddie Robb, Club President: “The support of commercial partners such as Energy Assets is fundamental to the success of the club and its role in the community. It not only enables us to provide new kit for our players, it also ensures we can offer the high quality coaching and training facilities that play such important role in our progress on the field. It is fundamental to our vision of becoming the most successful community rugby club in Scotland.”

For now Portbello’s focus is on earning a top 4 league position and a potential place at Murrayfield in the national Shield competition.

Says Colin Lynch, Chief Executive Officer of Energy Assets Group: “As a business headquartered in Scotland, we are delighted to continue to support a club that plays such an important role in community life and which clearly has ambitious plans for the future to widen engagement in sport among young people.”
