EAU Plans Phased Return to Construction Projects

Energy Assets Utilities (EAU) is planning a phased return to construction sites throughout England starting Monday 11th May.

The company, which designs and installs multi-utility networks on residential housing developments and commercial/industrial projects, has developed a comprehensive safety plan covering its workforce, and is liaising with customers to ensure appropriate measures are in place to safeguard against Covid-19.

“As a business, EAU is focused on getting back to work to support our customers, but the welfare of our people remains paramount, so we have put in place a comprehensive plan, which includes risk assessments and safety procedures, that will safeguard individuals and wider site operations,” said Craig Topley, Group Managing Director (Construction) of Energy Assets.

“Our people will be provided with all the personal protective equipment they need, appropriate to every role and all work environments, but they will also be empowered with the knowledge they need to keep themselves and their colleagues safe and to challenge any behaviour that could create risk. Our updated working procedures have been developed based on government guidelines and industry best practice.”

The EAU rules cover working practices on construction sites, work on public highways, travel to and from work, personal hygiene, PPE, social distancing and physical separation, the use of antibacterial sprays and wipes on surfaces, tools and in vehicles, and the safe disposal of waste.

These measures will be implemented in support of a phased return to work on Monday May 11, with operations ramping up in line with client requirements.

“These continue to be challenging times for everyone, but through close collaboration with our customers we can begin to return to site to progress projects that are important to the wider economy,” said Craig Topley.
