Energy Assets Acquires Cortex Metering Solutions

Energy Assets Group has announced the acquisition of Cortex Metering Solutions (CMS) from Macquarie Specialised and Asset Finance, adding more than 600,000 industrial and commercial meters to our growing portfolio of assets.

The transaction extends the company’s position as one of Britain’s leading metering and data services business and is in step with our strategy to be at the forefront of enabling the transformation of I&C energy efficiency for a low carbon future.

Colin Lynch, Energy Assets Chief Executive Officer, commented: “This acquisition complements our gas metering portfolio and aligns with our strategy to be a leader in technologies and services that support the journey to Net Zero.

“We very much look forward to extending our reach in industrial and commercial metering assets on behalf of new and existing customers, working in partnership with more than 80 energy suppliers who have relationships with CMS.”

Energy Assets is one of Britain’s fastest growing independent I&C multi-utility metering and data services businesses, helping public and private sector organisations improve their energy efficiency through ground-breaking analytics and innovative customer-focused processes. The company also designs, constructs, adopts and owns multi-utility networks.

Added Colin: “We operate in markets that are fundamental to the future prosperity of our country. Increasingly, our advanced metering systems are viewed as the measure of sustainability for industry and commerce; our utility design and construction services are enabling the move to greater electrification and the push towards hydrogen; and our advanced analytics and AI solutions are transforming efficiency and safeguarding local network resilience.”

Julian Liddy, Senior Managing Director and Head of Macquarie Specialised and Asset Finance in EMEA said: “Having played an active and founding role in the UK’s metering industry for the last 18 years, we are proud of the contribution we have made in building out the I&C portfolio to this point and helping our clients to deploy smart meters across the country. We wish Energy Assets continued success with the portfolio’s future development.”
