Gas Utility Network Services

New Gas Connections

The design, planning and construction of a new gas connection may require the excavation and laying of pipework, and can be provided as a complete solution or as individual elements. Energy Assets will manage the relationship with the gas networks to ensure supply is available, and our team arranges all the necessary industry data flows.

New or Replacement Meter Installations

When installing a new or replacing a meter, we provide /check pressure and safety control equipment and other ancillary equipment. We also manage the coordination of site visits with the client and the client’s representatives, as well as EAL’s meter installers, all of which are Ofgem Accredited Meter Installers (OAMI’s). The gas supplier is the hub to the completion of metering works and is central to the industry required data exchanges between Meter Asset Manager, supplier and xoserve. EAL’s bespoke digital solution manages the process from inventory provision to the delivery of validated data, in industry recognised file formats.

Meter Removal

The removal of the gas meter and capping the supply feeder pipework downstream of the Emergency Control Valve (ECV). We manage the co-ordination of site visits with the client and the client’s representatives as well as EAL’s meter installation partners, all of which are Ofgem Accredited Meter Installers (OAMI’s). It is necessary to purge all downstream pipework either during or prior to meter removal in order to make the system safe. Any removed meter will normally be removed from the site and be made available to its owner in accordance with MAMCoP requirements, unless there are physical constraints preventing this. Removal of downstream pipework can be undertaken by prior arrangement. EAL will manage the provision of all required data to the relevant industry parties.

Disconnections

Supplier or client request for service alteration or removal etc. The isolation of the gas supply to a premise by use of the ECV and sealing in the “off” position, and by removal or capping of the meter installation. Energy Assets manage the co-ordination of site visits with the client and the client’s representatives as well as EAL’s meter installation partners, all of which are Ofgem Accredited Meter Installers (OAMI’s). Any removed meter will normally be removed from the site and be made available to its owner in accordance with MAMCoP requirements, unless there are physical constraints preventing this. Removal or alteration of downstream pipework can be undertaken by prior arrangement. EAL will manage the provision of all required data to the relevant industry parties.

Sub-Metering

Work involves the fitting of non-fiscal gas meters downstream of the main fiscal meter. Energy Assets manages the co-ordination of site visits with the client and the client’s representatives as well as EAL’s meter installation partners, all of which are Ofgem Accredited Meter Installers (OAMI’s). The gas supplier does not need to be involved in these works and data exchanges are not required to xoserve. The work will normally require isolation of the gas supply for a period of time, pressure testing of client pipework and where necessary, purging of the downstream system to ensure it is left in safe working order.

Meter Housings

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the gas meter is adequately protected from degradation and, where meters are exposed, it can often require special meter housing. At Energy Assets we supply and install meter housings.
