Central to everything we do is our safety culture. For Energy Assets, this means Safety First, Safety Always.

Putting People First

When the pandemic hit, our focus was on varying working hours to fit into home routines, to help people manage this unique situation.

We also put in place a structured contact programme for all employees, shaped around monitoring wellbeing, staying connected to colleagues and offering additional support where needed.

Our CEO sent regular emails updating colleagues on developments and thanking staff for their support, which included a video message from home.

We set up ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ to enable people to share how they were staying energised during the lockdown, which ranged from home fitness sessions and funny photos to high octane drum routines. There were quizzes, virtual coffee mornings, clap for carers videos…helping people feel connected to each other during a difficult time.

And when some of our colleagues were able to return to site, their safety – and that of our suppliers and customers – was the first priority. We put in place protocols that went beyond industry standards because workplace safety can never be compromised.

We continue to follow all government and devolved administration rules rigorously. Until the time comes to get back to normal.

Making a Difference
So, does our support for our people make a difference? Our most recent staff survey showed overwhelmingly that the collective voice of our people was that they felt supported, cared for and had faith that the leadership team genuinely had their interests at heart.
