Safety Commitment

Safety Commitment

Go home healthy

Safety is our number one priority for our staff, customers, suppliers and the wider community. We work in highly regulated industries and we apply rigorous occupational safety and welfare standards in everything we do, so that everyone goes home healthy.

Our corporate commitment

Our commitment to safety starts at the top, with our policies and procedures personally signed off by our Chief Executive Officer.

The standards we set apply to the Energy Assets Group and all our subsidiary businesses, and are subject to the implementation and continual improvement of our Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management Information System. This formal system captures the requirements of both our clients and the company and underpins our ability to meet the Health and Safety Management Standard ISO 45001.

These policies and systems have the approval and full commitment of our Board of Directors, but it is also the responsibility of all employees to comply. Our Head of Compliance is responsible for co-ordinating implementation and for reviewing, amending and developing the policy in line with legislative requirements and company strategy.

Our commitments:

  • To provide adequate control of the health and safety risks arising from our work activities.
  • To engage with all employees on matters affecting their health and safety through H&S committees and interactive briefing days.
  • To provide adequate information, instruction and supervision for all persons under our control.
  • To ensure all persons under our control are competent to do their tasks, and to give them adequate training.
  • To report all near miss occurrences and prevent accidents and cases of work-related ill health.
  • To maintain safe and healthy working conditions and to drive a culture whereby safety is always first.
  • To constantly review and update all policies and procedures to ensure any best practice and learning opportunities are utilised.

Beyond Workplace Health & Safety

Our commitment to the welfare of our people goes way beyond our statutory duties. We place employee wellbeing at the top of our priorities, ensuring we support their mental health as well as their physical health.

So we have created the EA Health programme to provide wrap-around support for our people and their families.

Through this we are:

  • Building, improving and maintaining positive and supportive working environments.
  • Embedding wellbeing in policies and people practices.
  • Encouraging and promoting healthy lifestyles, including the benefits of healthy lifestyle choices and the value of physical activity, nutrition and sleep.
  • Encouraging and supporting employees to maintain good mental health and manage problems should they arise.
  • Embedding workplace health promotion and creating a stigma free, supportive culture.
  • Ensuring that those who support or manage employees are equipped to respond appropriately to their needs.

We know that the physical and the mental health needs of our employees will change during their careers and so we offer access to a broad package of tools, resources and support to meet these needs.

This includes:

  • Providing information and toolkits related to mental and physical health.
  • Providing support from Mental Health First Aiders.
  • Sign posting employees to: External support networks, such as Samaritans, Mind, NHS GPs.
  • A dedicated employee assistance programme.
