Managers of the future

Managers of the future

We’ve got some good news to finish off 2023 – three of our Gas Network Operative Apprentices have succeeded in completing their 24-month programme. The trio were only the second group in the UK to go through a new level 2 apprenticeship course. Their success has seen Energy Assets become the only organization to have a 100% pass rate and a 66% distinction rate.

Their apprenticeship journey

UCT (Utility & Construction Training Ltd) worked with the awarding body EUIAS (Energy & Utilities Independent Assessment Service) to deliver a 3-part assessment in an apprenticeship.

The end goal of Reece, Lewis and Joe’s apprenticeship was to prepare them to be Gas Network Team Leaders in the future. They learned how to install and renew gas services, gas mains up to 2bar along with escape locate, and repair methods on distribution gas mains. These are new service offerings for Energy Assets, making their passes and distinctions even more valuable to the business. They went up against things they’d never seen before and performed above expectations. Their new expertise means we can provide our customers with a solution to more niche problems.

“The guys are fantastic. I’m very proud of them, and they should be proud of themselves.” Says Tom Beetham of 3t training services formally known as UCT.

Managers of the future

The 100% pass rate means that all three are qualified to become on-site as Team Leaders in their future careers,  and they’ve already shown qualities and traits that we look for in our management team. As well as putting in the additional time required during an apprenticeship to pass tests, exams, practical assessments and interviews, they juggled their studies with managing their EA day jobs. Well done to all!
