Lorna Agnew – Contracts Administrator

Lorna Agnew – Contracts Administrator

I’m Lorna, a Contracts Administrator for the Electricity Planning Department.

My Daily Routine

I’ve been an employee of Energy Assets for about 2 and a half years. My role is to plan the workload diaries for the Electricity Metering Engineers as well as run important daily reports.

The core deliverables of my role are based around ensuring that the engineers go out with the optimum quota of jobs within their driving times, ensuring emails are answered within the SLA agreement, connecting and calling our customers to book appointments and answering calls from suppliers, customers and engineers. Respect is at the core of my role – I have to respect the needs of the customers and clients, as well as the engineer’s working schedule when completing my duties.

I am pleased to work in a team of about 20 planners who all support each other on a day to day basis. Teamwork is a really strong element of what we do in our connected roles. We all are responsible for and look after engineers, and some of us have set engineers. So managing time – both my own time and that of our engineers – efficiently is a critical part of my job.

My Challenges and Motivations

There are many challenges, or should I say opportunities, in my role but I’m glad to say it is all enjoyable.

Planning the engineer’s diary for the next day is my priority task. I have to check what work is still required, as well as contacting customers to book in either for the following day or a future date.

I really enjoy my job at Energy Assets and working with such good colleagues. Often, if you’re under pressure they will boost my morale. The variety and challenge comes when I cover different engineers on a daily basis. Geography, as in getting used to the different parts of the country, also keeps me on my toes!

A rewarding aspect of my role is when the engineers you’re looking after start their day with the maximum – and right number for our customers – job requirements.

My Accomplishments

One of my proudest moments at Energy Assets was that I progressed to the ‘Cloud role’. This part of my role means that I do not have set engineers, however I instead cover any planner when they are off. This involves responsibility involving report completion for the team and managers. I’m proud of this achievement and feel empowered by Energy Assets to continuously grow in my role.

Compiling reports for the business using Microsoft Excel was not my strongest point, however Energy Assets put me on a course and now I find it much easier and the reports take me half the time to complete. I’m grateful for this training opportunity.

I believe that Energy Assets is a good place to work; the working hours are great and the people are all very friendly and supportive. We have team building exercises every week which are a good way to unwind after a hard week.
